It's an exciting time to be involved with welding and fabrication. This is an industry that is expecting a 22 percent job growth over the next 10 years. Many considering a career in metalwork expect to face a huge learning curve — and there can be — but starting on that career path is easier when you have a partner like Swanton Welding Company on your side. With us, you can earn a wage while learning the trade and gaining valuable experience.
While the common perception of modern metal fabrication is one of automated lines and robotics, the truth is there is still and will forever be a demand for the human element. The field requires skilled craftsmen who put their training to use alongside their creative and problem solving abilities to perform this job. No amount of technological innovation is going to change that anytime soon.
Something New Everyday
The job description may sound straightforward enough, but that doesn't mean it's the same job day after day. Swanton Welding works on some of the most exciting and cutting-edge metal fabrication work being done in the United States. Monday you may be starting the assembly of a 50,000-lb. mixing tank, and by the end of the week you are putting the finishing touches on a 125,000-lb acid furnace. Not only will your physical skills be put to the test, but your mental and creative abilities, too. All the while, you'll be creating things that change people's lives in big and small ways.
There's also a lot of opportunity for metal fabricators to carve out a career that they love. Possible occupations that grow out of a fabrication beginning include:
- Press operator
- CNC operator
- Robot programmer
- CNC machine programmer
- CAD engineer or design
A company like Swanton Welding has a team of professionals as diverse as the different projects they handle in-house every week. They all share one goal — providing outstanding customer service and exceeding those customer's expectations in terms of quality.
