This is accomplished through the daily, ongoing efforts of the truly talented men and women of Swanton Welding who dedicate themselves to bringing their best, day in and day out.

Shining a Spotlight on Employee Excellence

The excellence of our employees is a source of pride for Swanton Welding. Johnny Sulewski, the Manager of the Swanton Southern Facility located in Griffin, GA, is one of the people who consistently create a quality product and exceptional service.

His daily responsibilities include:

  • Managing a team of employees
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Maintaining ongoing schedules
  • Ordering materials
  • Miscellaneous tasks that keep him flexible, like some sales, estimating, working in the shop and driving a truck

Outstanding Track Record

Longevity of experience is one of the hallmarks of many of our employees. Johnny has been with the company for 21 years, starting out as a driver of semis who admittedly didn't even know the difference between aluminum and stainless steel. He chose to spend the slower, down times of business (when there wasn't as much material to haul) learning the ins and outs of the business.

When Swanton Welding Company purchased their first laser machine, doors began opening that enabled Johnny to advance. Ultimately, the addition of the laser led to training from the laser machine manufacturer. After that, he attended college classes which grew Johnny's knowledge and skill set. During his time at Owens Community College, he learned about such necessary things as:

  • Laser
  • Auto-CAD
  • CNC
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Manual Machining

Favorite Memory

In spite of seeing a lot during his time with the company, Johnny counts the collaborative conversion of the corn field in Delta, OH into the Northstar Steel Mill as one of the most impressive projects he's ever been involved in. Working with contractors from six different countries was an amazing experience for him.

Johnny's View on What Makes Swanton Successful

Even after so many years with the company, Johnny is certain that it is the great employees who are working every day that makes the difference for the sake of customer satisfaction. In spite of the challenges customers are facing of an unstable, competitive world market, it is Johnny's pride that the good people on the Swanton Welding team make a difference through their continued willingness to share ideas and show creativity where necessary.  He also appreciates the fact that the company treats its team well, making it feel more like a home to be enjoyed than a job to be endured. Other fabricators may think they treat their employees well, but in Johnny's view, Swanton Welding cares for their employees in a way that is like nothing he has ever seen.

Activities and Interests Apart from Work

When Johnny isn't working, he and his wife love spending time with their children. They are involved in Boy Scouts, baseball, and they love to travel as a family. Their goal is to visit all of the lower 48 states of the country by the time the kids graduate from school. Some of his favorite places to visit have included New York City, winter in Minnesota, and he had the pleasure of seeing a NASA shuttle launch.

Swanton Welding proudly stands as a leader in our industry. We strive to give our customers a one-of-a-kind experience. With valued employees like Johnny Sulewski, we are sure to exceed our own high expectations.
